The Southern Ohio Amateur Radio Association (SOARA) will present a special “Iron Furnace on the Air” event at the Vesuvius Furnace, located in the Lake Vesuvius Recreation Area, NW of Ironton, Ohio. The on-the-air event will happen rain-or-shine on Saturday, September 18, 2021 and we will be ‘live’ on the air from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Refreshments will be provided by SOARA. This event is free and open to the public.
Directions: From the U.S. Rt. 52/State Rt. 93 Exit in Ironton, Ohio – take Rt. 93 North 5.8 miles and turn Right on County Road 29 (Ellisonville-Paddle Creek Rd.). Follow CR 29 for 0.9 mile and turn Right across a bridge. The furnace will be on your right. The shelter house is in a clearing just above the furnace. There is very limited parking near the shelter house, so we advise that those attending this event park in the lot across the road from the furnace.
