Field Day with the Tri-State Amateur Radio Association Huntington, West Virginia June 23, 2018. Across the country amateur radio operators will spend this weekend participating in simulated disaster conditions were normal communications and power sources are non-existent. They will only use backup generated power, battery, and solar to power the radios. This is an extremely important event providing the opportunity for radio operators to exercise their expertise in preparation for the real thing. The slogan “When All Else Fails There is Amateur Radio” is so true.
I want to thank Mark Killeen KD8QIG President, Bud Cyr KB8KMH Vice President and Judy Taylor WD8EOP Secretary for their hospitality. Additionally, I enjoyed time with West Virginia ARES Section Manager Mike Maxson W8SI.
